A new crib set has joined my custom bedding family today! View the photo gallery for a tractor and cow themed set for Susan of Oklahoma, whose husband collects Farmall tractors. I made box-style bumpers, a layered skirt, drapery panels and two valances with red fringe for this nursery, which is set to welcome Baby Boy later this month! The entire process was done via e-mail and it was a pleasure to do!

I just had my “contact me” page updated, so if you have had trouble using this link, you won’t anymore. I am not sure if I am a fan of Wordpress….it seems like my old site had far fewer issues, but it didn’t have this funny little blog where I could announce earth-shattering news like new custom crib sets and baby bibs. I just wrapped up work on a bedding and drapery job in a tractor and cow theme that turned out really cute. Photos will follow as soon as my Nikon gets back from service. (That is another story, but I won’t tell it because it just makes me irritated!) I am cruising through a new custom bedding set for a mom in Oklahoma who fell in love with some tractor fabric. She put it together with a cow print and solid red accents and it is turning out really cute! The bumpers have black piping and the skirt has a red flange and a cow border below a strip of tractor fabric. Mom-to-be is hilarious and is expanding her crafting vocabulary quite impressively!

The backing of each bib and burp cloth is the same as all the other sets – cotton terry velour on the bib and chenille on the burp cloth. They are the perfect gift for the mom who likes something different or is having a second or third baby – this will be something she has never seen before! All vintage fabric was purchased at an antique store and is “new” in that it was never made into anything else prior to its current use. Enjoy!!

New photos are up for a set I just finished in kiwi green and black for a baby boy. His mom-to-be is an interior designer and the fabrics show it! The blanket is a coverlet with light cotton batting fill that is sized to be used as a bedspread when baby isn’t sleeping. The back is minky = deliciously soft. Also shown are the wonderful bumpers in the patchwork screen-printed fabric and a custom sheet.

Happy New Year! I don’t know about you, but the holiday season for me was one big blur of siblings, cousins, food, magic reindeer food and….dishes. It was lots of fun and I am ready for the return of the normal routine. What is it about me that makes me love a routine? But I digress…..I have been sewing a wonderful set for an interior designer in LA who is expecting her first baby. It is totally different fabric from what I have ever used and I am loving it. Getting to be in my newly repainted sewing studio is an added bonus! No more blue walls! I was downstairs sewing within minutes of the painters being out of there – D&H Drugstore was waiting for new hats and burp cloth sets, a customer in CA was waiting for two tush cushions and my friend Helen is still waiting for a set of bibs. Two online orders right before the holidays also had me hopping, but happy!

In other news, the rewind wear sets I made for the Beaux Arts Bizarre in Columbia are going to be offered for sale through my Etsy store, bumperCROPbaby. Seriously, it’s easier for me to add new products to that site than to my own! Plus, I think it might be the perfect venue for vintage fabric made into adorable baby gear. So look for that soon! (By soon I mean before March!)

The Beaux Arts Bizarre (yes, that is the correct spelling) is coming to Columbia, MO this Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Missouri Theatre downtown. I will have a booth on the stage with bibs, burp cloths a few Christmas frames made with vintage paper and a new line of vintage-fabric bibs and burp cloths called REWIND WEAR! They are really cool! It has taken me 7 years to let go of this fabric….I am kind of a fierce collector. Everything is under $20, which makes for great gifts! I will be joined by Chris Sayers, who will have knit hats and sweaters and handmade cards. The BAB is a juried show of exclusively handmade wares, so it’s worth attending! (Seriously, who wants to be at a mall this weekend?!) Hope to see you there!

lower prices

You may have noticed a drop in the prices of the new Bumper Crop Baby bibs and burp cloths. I just feel that with the economy and people trying to be more frugal, it is appropriate to lower my prices. I’m still making enough money to make it worth my while to sew in my “free” time and this allows darling boutique gifts to make it into the hands of a wider range of people. (Who are, in fact, just like me. I am a bargain maniac!) The new prices are bib sets for $16 and burp cloth sets for $14. Please be patient as I get through all of the individual product pages to manually lower the prices. If there is something you want that has not been changed yet, just contact me and I can customize an invoice for you reflecting the lower prices. Happy shopping!

For everyone in the Columbia, Missouri area, I was accepted into the Beaux Arts Bizarre (yes, that is spelled correctly), which is a show of juried artisans selling all handmade wares. The show dates are the Friday – Sunday after Thanksgiving, or November 27-29 at the Missouri Theatre in downtown Columbia. I will be selling bibs and burp cloths as well as a limited line of vintage baby gifts called Rewind Wear that I have made out of real vintage fabric. It has been really fun to sort through my vintage fabric collection and choose pieces to cut out and make into these bibs and burp cloths. I will be sharing the booth with my good pal Chris Sayers, who makes beautiful handmade cards and also knits lovely sweet baby hats and sweaters. We have set up at shows together several times and we always draw a nice baby-loving crowd! Please come by and see us – we’re on the stage!

The new burp cloths are up! I dropped off a basket full of the new sets yesterday at D&H Drugstore on Broadway in Columbia, MO and the sales ladies were full of oohs and aahhs. I am really excited about the new sets. For one thing, it is really fun to work with new fabric! I also really love the colors and the combination of the patterns. I have three of each burp cloth left and four of each bib, so if you see something you love, grab it fast! Each new bib set is $16 and each new burp cloth set is $14. (Making it pretty easy and affordable to get the luxury double-set of two bibs and two burp cloths for only $30! Four handmade gifts for $30! Crazy!!)
