Do you need some custom items? Or do you have fabric you want me to use? Both? Most of us have individual tastes and needs and I can usually accommodate those.

Interior designer uses Bumper Crop Baby for her own crib bedding

Wednesday, September 22nd, 2010

I just shipped off a beautiful bedding set designed by Stacy of North Palm Beach, FL, who is an interior designer.

Stacy bedding

Stacy has put together an amazing nursery including a shell-laden chandelier, a custom-painted dresser, a coral-printed rug and more.  To complete the oceanside look of the nursery, I made custom bumpers in a heavy upholstery fabric with a coral print, adding thick piping and long wide ivory ties.  The skirt is a converted king-sized silk woven mesh skirt that evokes a sailor’s net (without the fishy smell!)  Several elements of the set were made from king-sized ivory sheets with an incredible thread count and weave.  This photo was taken in my studio, but will be replaced by Stacys’ own photo as soon as the rest of the room comes together!

Custom box-style bumpers, skirts, sheets in the hopper!

I’m working on two different custom bedding orders right now and loving the creativity of the moms! Although the beach/ocean theme of one set and cowboy/western theme of the other set are in high contrast to one another, that just reminds me how cool my job is! I get to create custom crib bedding for nurseries across the country that are just what the expectant parents (okay, usually the mommy) want! Luckily my son just started preschool this week, so I have time to do all of this sewing! And I’m off to do just that….

Posh custom bedding doesn’t have to blow your budget!

Thursday, August 12th, 2010

If you’re looking for the upscale bumpers you see in posh stores and on posh sites without the posh price tag, you’ve come to the right place!  Bumper Crop Baby offers custom crib bumpers with all the luxury design of high-end bedding at a fraction of the designer cost.  Silk, minky, embroidery, ruffles, piping, panels – no problem!  It will cost a little more than what you could find at a discount store, but the nursery of your dreams is worth it!

Guitars, robots and zebras, Oh My!

Thursday, July 8th, 2010

All the new boy burp cloths are up and you will LOVE THEM!   The new bibs have already been a big hit and I expect the burp cloths to be also – what baby boy doesn’t love some guitars, some zoo animals, some robots and spaceships!  What we have here are boyish themes that aren’t too babyish.  Just hip enough that parents won’t mind the drool so much…

Organic skirt and crib sheets

Custom crib sheets are an inexpensive addition to any custom bedding job and can really tie everything together. Custom sheets are made with elastic all the way around the entire circumference of the sheet for a snug fit and can be ordered as a single item also! At $20 per sheet, it’s easy to have several on hand!

Robots, zoo animals join the bibs for boys

Monday, July 5th, 2010

All of the new boy bib sets are up! There is a great robot set with a spaceship coordinate, a zoo animal print with a large dot and the fabulous guitars with coordinating polka dot. I had a lot of fun shopping for the fabric and I have a new crush on Michael Miller. Seriously. Four of the six new fabrics are Michael Miller and they are great prints in great quality 100% cotton. Every bib is backed in cotton terry velour, the Rolls Royce of bib material. They make great gifts!

If This Crib is a’Rockin’…

Thursday, June 24th, 2010

I am so excited to add some new bibs for baby boys!  Here is the first in a group of three new sets.  Guitars!  So cool!  For all the mommies and daddies who play music or love music.  (and with a special shout out to any of you who dreamed of taking your college garage band to the big time someday…)  We can all appreciate the inner rocker in ourselves, right?

guitars and polka dots keep it rockin' without going over the edge

Fabric shopoholic

Monday, June 21st, 2010

I have been spending hours online and in stores looking for the perfect coordinates for my new boy fabrics.  I found some great ones today to go with a robot print and a zoo animal print, both by Michael Miller.  (Wonderful Michael Miller on whose fabrics I could spend a mortgage payment…)  My new cell phone arrived via UPS today and I was actually a little disappointed that it wasn’t my new fabric.  See!  I told you I was obsessed!

Time for new boy fabrics

Friday, June 18th, 2010

A friend of mine from college and his wife just had a baby boy, so of course I am excited to send them a baby gift!  I was perusing my sewing studio for the perfect little things and realized that I am woefully lacking in bibs and burp cloths for boys!  I have been having so much fun making new things for girls (check them out!) that I didn’t realize that the boy sets are all but sold out.  So, new fabric has been ordered and new sets are on the way!  Hopefully my friends will be understanding about the delay (they are probalby so sleep deprived they don’t know how long it has been anyway…)
