Is it already May?  I have a friend who calls May "The New December" with its end-of-school activities, dance recitals, tee-ball games, etc.  Not to mention yard work!  If you’re like me, you feel like you’ve discovered a long lost child with every plant that peeks through the soil after a long winter.  Still, with all the buzz of activity, let all of us take the time to enjoy our new babies, and our not-so-new babies.  My kids, at 5 and 2, love to be outdoors this time of year.  We are particularly crazy about worms.  On the sewing front, I just finished a super snazzy nursery for twin boys in Dallas.  Chic mom picked out all the fabrics and I put it all together–see the photos in the gallery!  I am taking May off from my normal custom work to do window treatments for my friend Brie’s new house.  With three small kids and a husband in a wheelchair, she is doing the packing and managing the new house construction largely on her own.  Since I am not so clever with a hammer, I am doing what I can with a sewing machine.

Many Spring Favorites are still 10% off - don’t we all love a sale?!  Happy shopping-

I added a new photo to the gallery today.  It shows one of the two matching duvet covers that I made for a client in Georgia.  She designed them and I made them according to her drawing.  Warning, you’ll drool!  They are gorgeous, if I do say so myself.  (She picked very chic fabrics and designed something so luxurious, which is half the work!)  Here is another picture of some crib bumpers I am working on now.  They show another example of minky fabric in baby bedding.

New photos are blooming in the photo gallery.  I just added a picture of the crib set I did for Tiffany from Houston and her baby boy.  It was sky blue, yellow and chocolate brown, making it perfectly adaptable for both a boy and a girl.  What a smart mom!  These bumpers were stuffed with flat batting from a roll so they woudl be tall and thin instead of puffy.  The custom options never cease!  I can’t wait to get a picture of Linda from Georgia’s duvet covers up because they are so beautiful!  I will admit that hers was hands-down the hardest job I have ever done and there were times when I wanted to use them for firewood and just send her a check for the fabric!  I’m glad I didn’t, though, as they turned out wonderfully.  So bring it on, creative mamas!  Hit me with your most elaborate requests!

The sewing machine has been humming and lovely crib bumpers are popping up everywhere!  I have been working a lot with minky fabric, which is a velvety smooth fuzzy polyester fabric that comes in dozens of colors and styles.  It takes some patience and extra work to make it look good, as it loves to stretch, but there is nothing more irresistable to snuggle with (except an actual baby, I suppose.)

Contact me to get started on bedding you’ll love–you make it up, I’ll make it fabulous!

Whoa!  So far this year I have been jumping from one project to another, thanks to my awesome customers!  I have made a roman shade, curtain panels, a tailored twin skirt, a lovely crib set and now I’m working on two matching twin duvet covers.  They were designed by the client and are so lovely that I almost want to adopt twin girls so I can have some just like them!  Next I’ll be making matching crib bedding for twin boys.  For those of you who may wonder what you need to do to have the bedding of your dreams made, just contact me and I’ll help you along every simple step.  You can start by looking at bedding or fabric and finding things you like.

Keep Bumper Crop Baby bibs, burp cloths and changing mats in mind for baby’s Easter basket this month!  Several bibs and burp cloths come in lovely spring-inspired fabrics and are sure to delight the little bunny in your life!

Welcome to 2008, newcomers and past customers!  Bumper Crop Baby is already off to a busy start with custom twin bedding, window treatments and crib bedding.  I’ve also made a few pillow shams and pillows.  Cold winter days make for cozy hours in the sewing room and for some reason, January is always a busy time.  For those of you approaching a Spring due date, it’s not too late.  I can complete a custom crib set in under 4 wks–sometimes in as little as 2 wks.  Contact me to get started on an affordable set of bumpers and skirt!  Coverlets, duvet covers, window treatments, etc. are all in my bag of tricks as well.  Here’s to a happy, healthy 2008 for one and all!

Now that Halloween has passed, be on the lookout for some super-cute Christmas bibs and burp cloths to hit the site!  I have two sets, one in red and green and one in blue and white.  I just need pictures and then they will be up!  I am also making lots of waterproof turkey-print bibs for Thanksgiving.  Last year, I sold out at the King’s Daughter’s Holiday Festival, but if I have any left this year, they will be up on the site also.

I’m making a few larger bibs now.  FYI, if you see a set of small bibs that you like, I can also make a large bib in that print.  That is one nice thing about buying from someone who makes everything herself and specializes in custom work!  AND I ship all over the globe!  Holy cow!

I’ve been getting a lot of requests for custom bedding, which is great!  Some questions have popped up…Yes, I can do round bedding and yes, I will help you with the design of the bedding.  That is what people love about my custom work–they pick the fabric and the look and I help with the shopping and put it all together!  With pricing starting at $270, Bumper Crop Baby is one of the least expensive custom bedding options out there!

For those in the Columbia, Missouri area:  plan to shop at the King’s Daughter’s Holiday Festival on November 10-11.  I’ll be there selling burp cloths, bibs, oilcloth changing mats and bedding and my friends will have knitted sweaters, cards, crocheted dolls, etc.  Handmade mania!  Ticket sales support Dental Aid in Columbia and the event is always hoppin’.
